Launched in January 2024, we are now in February 2026, and just gathered for our 6th General Assembly in Gdaลsk.
The past two years have been intense and productive. Many results are already visible, particularly our policy work and light pollution mapping, while other key outputs are being carefully developed and will be presented in the second half of the project.

A major focus was the completion of preparations for pilot activities. As a sneak preview: our partners from Fundaciรณn Ibercivis (Francisco Sanz & Daniel Lisbona) have developed and presented an innovative citizen science application that allows participants to measure ALAN while walking. This tool will significantly enhance and ground-truth light pollution maps based on satellite data. An online workshop will follow soon – stay tuned.

We had valuable discussions on engaging governmental bodies, including the City of Gdaลsk, in concrete actions addressing light pollution and noise pollution. Increasing awareness among policymakers remains a core priority. Targeted activities for government representatives are being planned to ensure that scientific knowledge translates into effective regulatory and policy change.
As we move into the second half of the project, our focus is clear: consolidate pilot results, deepen stakeholder engagement, produce biodiversity insights, look into public perceptions, and accelerate policy impact.
