We’re proud to share that the PLAN-B project was featured at the ENLIGHT International Conference on Light Pollution and Dark Sky Protection, held in Novi Sad, Serbia, from 28–30 November 2025.
Representing PLAN-B, Yana Yakushina took the stage with a powerful contribution titled “Path Towards Effective Regulations to Protect the Night”. Her intervention emphasized the urgent need to develop policy frameworks that address the growing environmental impacts of artificial light at night (ALAN), particularly in relation to biodiversity loss and ecosystem disruption.

Elena Maggi, coordinator of our sister project AquaPLAN presented the combined effects of light and noise pollution on aquatic biodiversity, highlighting the importance of addressing multisensory pressures in freshwater ecosystems.
The conference gathered international experts in environmental science, urban planning, astronomy, and ecology — all working to understand and mitigate the effects of light pollution. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, from regulatory practices and urban dynamics to biological research and public awareness.
PLAN-B’s participation reinforced the importance of integrating scientific evidence into policymaking processes. Yana’s and Elena’s presentations sparked meaningful exchanges on how local and regional authorities can implement more effective, evidence-based strategies for light and noise pollution control.
We warmly thank the ENLIGHT Conference organisers for including the PLAN‑B project in this timely and high-level gathering. It was an honour to contribute to the dialogue on protecting nocturnal environments and restoring the night.
