Our colleagues Karolina Zielińska-Dąbkowska (Gdansk Tech) and Mike Wood (Saldford Univesrity) shared the first and preliminary outcomes of our project work in the event that CIE hosted, a special webinar on 15 May 2026 entitled “Lighting the Way: Finding Balance Between Safety, Beauty, and the Night Sky”, focusing on the topic of light pollution.
The session brought together a range of perspectives on current practice and emerging priorities in light pollution, highlighting developments in policy, regulation, scientific research, and municipal and regional initiatives. It provided an opportunity to hear different viewpoints, learn about ongoing activities in practice, and reflect on how these developments relate to existing CIE work and relevant CIE publications.

The CIE -Internacional Commision on Illumination- is a technical, scientific, and cultural non-profit organization with the following objectives:
