Researchers of the University og Ghent, member of the PLAN-B consortium, have presented part of their research in the Forum Acusticum / Euronoise 2025, that took place in Málaga (Spain), from 23rd to 26th of June, 2025.

The Forum Acusticum / Euronoise 2025, the 11th EAA Annual European Conference on Acoustics and Noise Control Engineering, joint with the XLVI Spanish Acoustic Conference TECNIACUSTICA 2025 succeded in its aim to be a premier gathering of renowned experts, researchers and professionals in the field of acoustics, providing a platform for the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge and collaborative discussions.

At Forum Acusticum–Euronoise 2025, researchers from Ghent University presented work from the PLAN-B project in the structured session “Effects of Multimodal Stimuli on Wildlife”. This session, part of the Bio-acoustics theme, was co-organized by Timothy Van Renterghem (Ghent University, PLAN-B) and Hans Slabbekoorn (Leiden University, AquaPLAN). It explored how wildlife is affected by both anthropogenic noise and artificial light at night.

Dick Botteldooren (Ghent University, PLAN-B) proposed a methodology relying on sound communication interference weighting for birds. Shreyas Rangaswamy Chandrashekar (Ghent University, PLAN-B) presented progress towards the challenging large-scale environmental noise mapping in all of Europe’s natural areas.
